Since 1977, Prof. Nejat Veziroglu from the Clean Energy Research Institute (CERI), University of Miami, successfully organized nine conferences in Miami with the title "International Conference on Alternative Energy Sources" and in 2010, Dr. Veziroglu and his colleague Prof. Hongtan Liu continued the series with the title "10th International Conference on Clean Energy (ICCE 2010)", held in Famagusta, North Cyprus. In 2011, the 11th conference (ICCE 2011) was held in Taichung, Taiwan, the 12th (ICCE 2012) in Xi'an, China, the 13th (ICCE 2014) in Istanbul, Turkey and the 14th one (ICCE-2015) in Saskatoon, Canada. The 15th meeting (ICCE-2017) was held at Xi'an, China during December 8-11, 2017.
In 2010, when the conference was organized in N. Cyprus, 3 special issues were published in highly ranked journals from selected good quality papers presented in ICCE-2010 as follows:
- Special issue "ICCE-2010" in International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Vol. 37, No. 2 (2012)
- Special issue "Clean Energy Technologies" in International Journal of Energy Research Vol.37, Issue 5, 2013.
- Special issue on "Clean Energy Technologies" in International Journal of Green Energy, Vol. 12, Issue 2, 2015
